Himanshu Sekhar Parida created a sand sculpture at the South Asian Conference in Odisha depicting the SAF logo as a call for unity and progress.
The piece centers on a torch held by joined hands—the “Light of Knowledge” and “Fraternity” burning within the flame suggesting people not just politics keep progress alive. Around it the flags of South Asia form a circle—equal interconnected with no nation above another. Encircling them a continuous chain of handshakes signals an unbroken bond of peace and solidarity.
Parida’s message to society: unity in diversity. Differences in culture language and religion aren’t barriers—woven together they become strength. A single hand can’t hold the torch long but many can. Peace comes before development and friendship replaces conflict. Because the circle weakens if one link breaks every citizen shares responsibility for the whole.
In his sand sculpture the logo becomes more than an emblem—it’s a reminder that South Asia’s future depends on cooperation mutual respect and fraternity.
